The following are some accommodations we recommend in the city.

  • Looking for a funky web savvy boutique hotel in downtown Vancouver that won’t break the bank?   Check out (almost-legendary) Vancouver blogger Miss 604's roundup of Tech Friendly Boutique Hotels in Vancouver (daveo)

  •  Our hotel of choice is the Hampton Inn & Suites, 111 Robson Street, 604-602-1008. It's in a (relatively speaking) quiet part of downtown.

We're told that all rooms have free Internet access, and there's wifi in the hotel's common areas.

  • Another popular accommodation choice the last two years was the YWCA hotel, 733 Beatty Street, just around the corner from the Hampton. Here's a map, and the number is (604) 895-5830.
  • The Blue Horizon Hotel (1225 Robson - here's a map). We've stayed there once before and liked it. I just checked and they appear to still have rooms available, including an internet special rate of $99CDN. Website says free high-speed internet access in all rooms.
  • American visitors can try Priceline too, I've had great success scoring sweet Vancouver hotel rooms (usually in hotels with some construction close by) - make sure to only requests hotels downtown or at least near a Skytrain station (daveo)
  • Also, herbal-minded folk might try the Sativa Sisters Bed and Breakfast - while the location is undisclosed, i hear the amenities are killer ;-) (daveo) Update: i am not sure if they are still in biz in 2008

 UBC

  • Vancouver School of Theology Iona Hotel, 13 studio suites ($85/night + tax). It is about 20 minutes walk across campus. Here is a map and another map. I'm a student on campus, this is another option, a friend stayed in a studio and it was a nice room for the price. I don't know about parking though.  (tyfn)
